ABOUT MG CHARITIES

Machani Somappa was an Indian industrialist, educationist, social worker and the founder of Machani Somappa group of companies. Born in 1904 at Yemmiganur in Kurnool district of the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Somappa came to the fore during the famine of 1934 when he opened a relief centre for the famine hit weavers of his area and founded a cooperative society for the weavers, Yemmiganur Weavers Cooperative Society (YWCS), in 1938.

Two years later, he set up the Machani Group and the business group has grown since 1940 to have interests in manufacturing, engineering, transport, agriculture, Information technology, energy, rural BPO, and retail brands. In 1960, he established Stumpp, Schuele and Somappa, a joint venture with renowned German spring manufacturers, Stumpp + Schuele.

He had presence in educational field with the school he founded, Machani Somappa English Medium High School, in 1978. The Government of India honoured him in 1954, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award for his contributions to the society, placing him among the first recipients of the award.

From the thought and in the steps of Machani Somappa, MG CHARITIES has established to help poor people in our community from our side who were in need of education, health and drinking water.

Founded in 1960, SSS Springs is the largest manufacturer of springs in India. We manufacture over 4000 varities of springs, stamping, and wire catering to the automotive, textile, electrical and white goods industries. With an installed capacity of 15,000 tonnes/year, SSS Springs produces over a million springs per day. We export to the United States of America, Africa, and Europe. The annual turnover of the group of companies is roughly 50 million USD. Our plants are located in Bengaluru, Pune, Ananthpur, Chennai, Gurgaon, and Grand Rapids, USA. In early 2014, we signed a joint venture with Mitsubishi, Japan to manufacture suspension springs for the automotive industry. Our clients include Toyota, Tata, Honda, Piaggio, Bajaj, Royal Enfield, General Motors, Ford, Fiat, Volvo, and Volkswagen to name a few.

Indivillage is a social enterprise and business process outsourcing company. Our mission is to bring education and economic opportunity to rural India. 70 percent of our employees are women. 100 percent of our profits are reinvested into the development of the community at our ancestral town of Yemmigannur. We provide image, content and data services to e-commerce, marketing and other digital businesses across the globe. Our goal is to provide employment to 1000 people across rural India by 2020.
